Events for September 3, 2010
Exhibit "Sculptures From the Forest"
Lanesboro Arts Center Galleries, Aug. 17-Oct. 17 2010
Nationally-acclaimed Lanesboro artist Paul Lambrecht's work featuring hand-carved and painted wood sculpture at the Lanesboro Arts Center. Using nature and everyday life as inspiration for his wood sculpture, Paul creates realistic works using kiln-dried basswood, which he hand-carves, applies acrylic paint and stains, then layers on numerous coats of lacquer. This process gives the work a shine that is more suggestive of glass or fine stone than wood, engaging the viewer in an experience of wonder as they question the medium.
Time: Mon-Thur 10 am - 5 pm, Fri-Sat 10 am - 7 pm, Sun 11 am - 3 pm

Winged Migration
Whitewater State Park, Sep. 3 2010
Celebrate the mystery of bird migration! For four years Academy Award winning producer Jacques Perrin had film crews scattered around the world literally flying with birds as they moved across land and water. Planes, gliders, helicopters and balloons were used to fly above, below in front of and alongside the birds. Bring popcorn, your favorite (non-alcoholic) beverage and a pillow as we turn the auditorium into your private screening room. (We’re even bringing in the comfortable chairs!) This 85-minute DVD is truly one of the most amazing nature presentations you will ever see! Call the park at 507-932-3007 extension 0 to reserve your spot.
